Many photographer’s “About Me” page or section will boast, in some way, that they’ve ALWAYS wanted to become a photographer; go check, I’ll wait . . .
Now that you’ve gone to check for yourself, you won’t find that here. In fact, I NEVER wanted to become a photographer. My earliest recollection of career choice was dentistry (my mother was a dental receptionist at the time). Then, I wanted to become a pilot, followed by surgeon, then a lawyer but I lost interest in all those fields.
You’re probably asking yourself “If you never wanted to be a photographer why are you one now?” or something to that nature. I’m getting to that part.
All my childhood career “choices” had one thing in common: I wanted to help people in one way or another. That led to my college choice of electronics engineering. Having gone through the three years of college, I found that career choice wasn’t quite right (even though I was good at it). That led to my first career as an on-site IT professional (still in the field of electronics for which I had training as well as being helpful towards others). After a few years I found, again, that my choice still wasn’t quite right.
Through all of that I had my camera. It was fun, it was a hobby, and I was getting better all the time. I had always had a love for the arts, whether it be visual or performing, but it wasn’t until I was asked to shoot my first wedding (my first non-hobby session) that I realized which path I should be on. I discovered that through photography I could help others by trapping both fleeting moments in time and emotions to later be reviewed, relived and re-felt.
Now, that is my goal and my purpose for you! I want to help you relive those moments over and over again each and every single time you look at that photo; be it of yourself, your child, or a loved one with whom you wish you could spend just five more minutes.
